Nice day at the county fair...

We had a good time at our local county fair, which is conveniently located less than 2 miles from our home. Lots of animals, crafts, games and rides. Curly locks thanks to one of the commercial vendors who offered to curl her hair and wasn't upset when I choked when she told me the curly rod was ONLY $100...no thanks! Charlotte loved the curls...so do we!

Best $15 I've ever spent!

Co-pay for immediate care tonight.

Charlotte got a 1/2" splinter (which was about the width of a toothpick) really wedged into the bottom of her foot Saturday night at Relay...Paul at the First Aid tent (who is GREAT and fixed up my blisters last year at Relay) attempted to take it out...we even soaked her foot for over an hour...he decided NOT to attempt it at Relay. Victor was going to try last night...didn't work, so I took her in tonight.

Karen (Nurse Practitioner) in the photo not only got it out. There was NO cyring/screaming involved (by Charlotte or Karen) and she did it so fast that Charlotte didn't even know she'd done it...YEAH!!!

2nd photo is her foot before...you can't tell from the photo, but that puppy is wedged 1/2" into the skin and is about 1/2" long...Charlotte was a champ tonight!

Relay: Best surprise ever!

I didn't get it when mom almost spilled the beans Friday night. I told her that I'd see her on Sunday and she said she'd see me tomorrow (she gets confused still, so I just dismissed it to that)...

Saturday morning at Relay my dad did what he said he was going to do back in early June...he got mom to Relay (because she wanted to be there and they got the permission of the doctors for the three hour outing) and Mom was there!

Highlight of Relay this year for me for sure!

Mom has contracted Clostridium difficile [CDF] and is now in isolation. Anyone seeing her has to gown up and wear a mask/gloves for at least the next 10 days. Dad will find out today what that means as far as next steps for surgery, etc. It's apparently something that many "nursing home" patients get...serious, but they caught it and are treating her with antibiotics. Please continue to keep my mom, our family and the medical folks in your prayers. Dad was told this is NOT due to her 3-hour outing to Relay on Saturday. This is a wrinkle in the map, but one that mom will get through.

Quilt and a hair cut - yahoo!

My friend Rosemary started this quilt for my mom after she found out about the car crash. She had it completed just over a week ago and we were just waiting for the right day...today was the day! Mom was SO excited and LOVED the colors she selected.

The quilt pattern is called majestic mountains. Pretty appropriate considering the amount of mountains mom has and will continue to climb during her recovery. The second photo is the quilt label and I love the quote Rosemary chose to put on the quilt.

THANK YOU Rosemary!!

My friend Keri has offered her hairstyling goodness soon after she found out about mom's crash. Mom LOVES the short new do that Keri gave her and we so APPRECIATE Keri coming to the room and spending time visiting with us...Hugs to you Keri & Marty! :)

Can we give you a lift?

Video of getting mom from the bed to the chair. Remember, she still can't put ANY weight on her left leg for 6 more weeks.

Getting ready for Relay 2011....

Picked up our two Relay collage prints from Costco tonight. Put them on FREE foam board and saved myself $15 per poster! :)

Banner is from Hillsboro's Committee. They signed it in HONOR/SUPPORT of my mom and our family. We will have it proudly displayed at our Wee Bees for a Cure campsite this weekend!

Small family reunion with mom...

Video of mom with everybody in the room.

Video of Costco picnic in mom's room with Terry & Lil.

Terry and Lil were down for the weekend and got go spend more quality time with mom and dad. They brought in Costco hot dogs and sodas for lunch...mom was happy!

Dave and his family came down for a quick visit also. Katie, Claire and Marilyn hadn't seen mom since the crash. It was great to spend time laughing and talking and praying together as a family!

Three Relays today...

I spent the morning shift with mom today...she had a bit of a rough night, but once I was there, she seemed FINE! Dad got there mid-morning (he needed one day of sleeping in)...My Uncle Terry & Aunt Lil were driving down from WA, so I headed out not too soon after dad arrived...

First stop was Tigard/Tualatin Relay. I didn't stay too long. It was spritzing rain pretty good and I stopped in to say "hi" to the folks there I know.

I went home to get the family, then off to North Clackamas (to visit with Dana, Julie & Sean)...things were rocking...Charlotte got some serious bouncy house time and we were able to visit with Dana....yeah!

Then, off to The Couve. We got to see Libby, Jill, Leann, Sam, Cheryl, Karla, Angela, Shirley, Marilyn, MJ, Kristina, Mark Little and many more! They are the biggest Relay in our immediate area and always fun to see what they are up to and spend some $$$$$$$....Mark also hooked us up with a 32" flat screen that Beaverton's Relay will be raffling off and then also raffling off the $$ totals (which will go towards one Teams FUNdraising)..double win!!!

The other big reason for us stopping by was to see my friend Jen from Camas. Jen was diagnosed with lymphoma a week ago Friday. She had two nodes removed on Wednesday (still waiting results to determine what type of lymphoma) and a full PET Scan this Friday. Please keep Jen and her family in your thoughts and prayers! She should know the results this coming Wednesday. Jen is AWESOME! We only live 45 minutes apart (across the river in Camas), but we try and get the kiddos (she has twin boys that will be 5 in August) together a few times a year. They were at Charlotte's 5th bee-day party. It was great to see Jen and her mom Cheryl and walk a couple of laps and TALK! So weird sometimes to think that cancer is what brought me together with all my Relay peeps..something that stinks and yet GREAT things have come from meeting all these wonderful people!!! :)
