Pirates of Penzance...

I had the opportunity to volunteer with GPTW (Great Place To Work) for the Intel only performance of Pirates of Penzance, presented by the Portland Opera at Keller Auditorium.

Most of the volunteers met before hand at Morton's Steakhouse for appitizers/drinks and then we spent 2 hours manning the ticket check-in/crowd control areas.  It was 85+ tonight, so we weren't quite prepared for sitting out front facing west, but we had a great time!

Since this was an Intel only performance, the Portland Opera did something pretty awesome and incorporated quite a few geeky/Intel-isms into the performance, including the Intel chime!

Thankful to work for such a great company and have awesome perks like this!

Wicked...

I finally not only got to see it for FREE thanks to Intel's GPTW (Great Place To Work) team, I got to take Charlie to see it too!

Rachel was really under the weather, so Tim/Matthew/Maddy, along with Charlie and I saw it opening night last week. It was AMAZING!!! The kiddos did great and loved it too!

Then last Friday, Victor and I went to see it. He bought me tickets as my Christmas present and it was great to see it with him (his first time) and seeing it from the orchestra level vs. balcony this time.

So happy our kiddo loves musicals and the theater...so many great shows coming to town and being performed at our local community theaters and high school/middle schools too! Someday I have a feeling, we'll be seeing her on stage too!

Alice in Wonderland the musical...

Charlotte and I had the BEST time tonight. Thanks to a recommendation from a high school friend on Facebook, we went to see Alice in Wonderland (the musical) at one of the near by middle schools. It was WONDERFUL!! The kids were terrific, the costumes were amazing and it was just plain FUN!

Charlotte loved it and at the end (while they were still performing), Charlotte took off to go run up on stage to meet Alice...luckily I caught her before she took off....she did get to meet the student that played Alice after the performance and the girl even gave her a hug!

Don't under estimate the power of middle school student performances. Seriously, I haven't laughed this hard (well, since last night when I was having a blast at Relay)...it was really, REALLY a good show!

Why I smiled today....I think our kiddo is bound to be on the stage performing...YAHOO!
