Pirates of Penzance...

I had the opportunity to volunteer with GPTW (Great Place To Work) for the Intel only performance of Pirates of Penzance, presented by the Portland Opera at Keller Auditorium.

Most of the volunteers met before hand at Morton's Steakhouse for appitizers/drinks and then we spent 2 hours manning the ticket check-in/crowd control areas.  It was 85+ tonight, so we weren't quite prepared for sitting out front facing west, but we had a great time!

Since this was an Intel only performance, the Portland Opera did something pretty awesome and incorporated quite a few geeky/Intel-isms into the performance, including the Intel chime!

Thankful to work for such a great company and have awesome perks like this!

Happy fishy mail...

Love, love, LOVE happy mail. Got this today at work from Rose. THANK YOU Rose. Even though I've pretty much stopped purchasing ANY fish items, I still LOVE receiving fishy gifts. Fishy swizzle stick oars, that's one I don't have (until now) in my fishy collection!

Happiness is...

  • coming back from a 5-day quilting vacation and your three year old asking you "is that fish purse for me mommy?"
  • having the fabric bowl that you slaved away making turned into a hat and being told "that's NOT a bowl mommy, it's a hat!"
  • coming home from a LONG day at work and having your kiddo help you clean (really CLEAN) the 3 bathrooms and not complain the entire 45 minutes (can't wait until she can scrub toilets)!
  • spending an hour at Costco with your three year old and having her remind you what you forgot on your mental shopping list (squishy treats and bread)
  • having that same three year old tell you "mommy, you're my best friend"...life, it's a beautiful thing!!!

Quilt show photos will be coming up in the days ahead (or earlier if I wake-up at 3am again this morning)...taking a blogging break was a really GOOD THING!

Last day at The Little Gym...

Here's Charlotte & Miss Anne today before class today (despite what the photo says, this was taken today 03-02-09).

Charlotte doesn't know this was her last class, so we'll see what she says in the upcoming weeks. She does have the twin's b-day party in April (Robbie & Ali), so she'll get to see some of her little friends again and we hope to stay in contact with them.

These past 16 months with Charlotte in class have been great. She has really come out of her shell and learned some pretty cool stuff in the process (patience, sharing, taking turns, etc). Miss Anne and the other instructors have been so great with Charlotte and I know Victor will miss the weekly class time with all the other kiddos and parents as well. Like everyone else in the world, we are having to make some cutbacks and right now this is one step we've decided to take to save up for pre-school come September.

Here's some fun video with Charlotte and her friends today during the end of class...BUBBLE TIME!!!

Why I smiled today...Charlotte & friends at The Little Gym.
