Braces are off!!!

Pretty big deal in our home today.  After 14 months of wearing braces, she got them off!!

Victor took her in for her appointment and she was SO HAPPY!!

After school I picked her up and we went back to the ortho office to get her retainer.  I'm taking bets on how long we will actually have the retainer.  She got the 5 minute version of what NOT to do with your retainer...hoping she's more responsible at 8 than I was at 16.... :)

Braces coming off the day before Halloween??

Hopefully the 'last' time to go in for a slight tweak of her braces...She should be getting them off October 30th!!!  :)   She got them on August 6, 2013!

The first time we met Dr. Laidlaw was October 24, 2012.

As a reminder this is what her teeth looked like before we started all of this...

She's got braces..

This morning the kiddo got her braces.  Not sure how long they will be on yet.  She was a trooper!  We never had a choice in band colors when I had braces....

Quad helix...

Two weeks ago Charlie got her spacers put in.  Two small rubber band like pieces in between her top back two molars.  Last week she had the mold impressions taken.  Today she had her brackets and quad helix installed.

Even having three of her baby teeth pulled out in January, there still isn't enough room in her mouth, so the quad helix will help move her teeth out and start lining things up to correct her under bite.

She will also be getting braces on the top four teeth, but we need two of those teeth to come in first.

Estimated time is 6-9 months...let the fun begin...

Happy camper...

Ortho...

Had our follow-up post visit with the orthodontist. She had more x-rays and we have a plan.
Fortunately her under bite will be easier to fix, but will still take 7-8 months of modified wiring, which will also fix the one permanent molar cross-bite she has.

It was a very good visit and we have a happy patient on our hands!

Orthodontist...

We had a consultation tonight with an orthodontist that our dentist recommended for Charlotte. Charlotte has got an under-bite and we went for a preliminary checkup.

Charlotte was a CHAMP! She had x-rays, photos and even asked questions! We won't know for a few months (once her top 4 teeth come out) and have a follow-up whether it's her jaw or the teeth and then we will proceed from there.
