Pinterest meets Aloha...

It doesn't happen very often that I'm truly THIS excited about an idea that I helped with....

Our group at work one an award and since we have so many employees (over 800) the recognition was a luncheon vs. giving everybody cash and a plaque.  We do lots of lunches at work, but my boss wanted it a little extra special.   So I met with our Executive Chef and one of the chefs under him that happens to be Hawaiian.   I gave them my budget, told them what we kinda wanted to do (sans the actual pig on a platter) and they put together a yummy meal, ALL Hawaiian!!!

The ONLY thing I really wanted was the decorations stepped up a notch and a pineapple tree!

I've discovered Pinterest about 1.5 years ago and when I saw the pineapple tree, I KNEW that someday we'd have to do something with it in Aloha (where I work).  YESTERDAY was that day!   When Victor texted me from the cafe saying that "your trees look great"...I was like "TREES" plural?   I couldn't get the grin off my face yesterday....so fun!!!

Symeon Nathanial...

Manage to run into Lesley and her already 3-month old Symeon today at lunch! He's such a big/healthy/happy boy! Yeah for babies!!!

Hard to believe Lesley will be back at work in less than two weeks....I've missed her, but happy she's been home with her healthy baby boy!

Twelve on Tuesday...

12 baby ducklings that is and their mama at work....Every year we have a mama who picks the courtyard at work to lay her eggs. The hatched sometime in the past week and when I sent the memo out to the campus yesterday reminding folks to NOT FEED them, I had to go count...yes, there are TWELVE of the cute little duckies hanging out for a bit at Intel!

Why I smiled today...

Aloha Campus Safety & Wellness Fair...

Had the first of four events today at work. Dana (my awesome friend and ACS Staff Partner) was there representing ACS & Relay! Victor stopped by to harrass her and also have lunch with us during his break.

Lots of cool booths this year...lots more than previous years.

My big thing, I FINALLY registered to be on the National Bone Marrow Donor list...last photo is me taking my cheek swabs...yeah, hopefully someday I can help save a life!

Halloween work party 2010...

Fun times tonight at work. The place was already buzzing when we got there. Had a fun time, didn't get to see everybody, but had fun. Charlotte's favorite thing? the balloon sword that my friend Torrence made her!

My favorite costume...was a tie: Christmas gift and Ksenyia's son's (FACEBOOK) -- his face painted like a BOOK (get it)...brilliant. Apparently it was on the tv show "The Office", we just don't watch it.

Great job by all the Committee and volunteers for pulling off another FUN event!

Just keep swimming...

things that make me smile....unexpected thank you's in the form of Swedish Fish! ;)
Thank you Julie!!!

Trying to PUNK my boss...

I tried, he didn't fall for it....I completely cleared out my office last week (and the idea was that I had quit and he was gonna have to hire a new admin--but he just looked confused and didn't fall for it...somebody would have called him if I really quit). ...our HR Mgr. decorated our bosses office..it looks great!! Gabe had a local sabbatical this time around (#5--he's been here over 35 years)...he did a lot of fishing, rocket launching and lots of time relaxing and drinking wine!!!

I can see again...

Why I smiled today...Good day at work! Shirt distribution went really well and people seemed happy...going back for round 2 tonight...After picking up Charlotte from school we went and got her bangs trimmed--YAHOO, she can see again!

It cracks me up that the gals at Pigtails and Crewcuts know her on a first named basis...we go every few months, but they all know her..guess she leaves a lasting impression (in a good way). It still amazes me how she'll sit totally still for anyone BUT mom & dad!

Monday afternoon out and about...

Why I smiled today...This sign says it all! How ironic is THIS??? One of the apartment complexes on my way to work...had to get a photo.

Our house from the backside.

One of the three cars that did 180 degree spins while we were out.

The only snow plow we actually saw during our 3 hours out this afternoon.

Good old Intel...we never close!!! I just don't like driving in snow/ice. Victor & Charlie brought me into work long enough to talk to my boss, my co-workers, turn my out of office on and check out until Dec. 29th!

Reedville Cafe (one of our favorite breakfast) is up and open for business. So cool all covered in snow!

This is a house I pass on the way to work everyday....it's absolutely picture perfect with the snow.
