Well, it's less than 2 days until the big event!!! Can't believe an entire year has gone by since our 2005 Relay For Life of Hillsboro.
I'm SO excited this year!!! We have 48 paid teams (our goal was 50) and as Team Recruitment Chair I think we did an awesome job getting so many folks to sign-up. Our monetary goal is $85K and we are at $39K tonight....Hard to believe how far we've come in the last 4 years...Our first Relay in 2003 was small...7 teams and $12K. Last year we had 33 teams and raised over $52K.
I've got my own team(s) this year..WeBees for a Cure 1 & 2. We've already raised over $3,500..not too bad for a first time team. My friend Rosemary Kurtz made our AMAZING raffle quilt "Bouquet of HOPE". We will be drawing the winning ticket on Sunday 6/25 @8:30am...hopefully I'll know the winner...Can't wait to see what Rosemary comes up next year for our fundraiser.
Also, since we are the WeBees, we had to have a Bee mascot to carry around with us during our 24 hour event....Notice Charlie's t-shirt..."Future Team Captain" (she was a little tired of mommy taking photos when I tried to take this one). She'll be the 2nd to the youngest Relayer this year. My friend Jennifer at work had her daughter Catherine on June 13th, so she'll be the youngest at the event.
