Re-entry to work didn't suck....

First days back from sabbatical can be tough....today was NOT!!!  Came in early ~5:45am before the shift 1 folks were in and found my office HAPPY and totally decked out in photos from our adventures this summer!!  Thanks to Rosemary, John and my hubby, re-entry was great!!!  Gabe brought in the 6-pack of Mike's to help!!!

Pirates of Penzance...

I had the opportunity to volunteer with GPTW (Great Place To Work) for the Intel only performance of Pirates of Penzance, presented by the Portland Opera at Keller Auditorium.

Most of the volunteers met before hand at Morton's Steakhouse for appitizers/drinks and then we spent 2 hours manning the ticket check-in/crowd control areas.  It was 85+ tonight, so we weren't quite prepared for sitting out front facing west, but we had a great time!

Since this was an Intel only performance, the Portland Opera did something pretty awesome and incorporated quite a few geeky/Intel-isms into the performance, including the Intel chime!

Thankful to work for such a great company and have awesome perks like this!

Mary's retirement...

Mary isn't officially retired until the end of the year, but her party was on August 22nd, exactly 30 years from the day she started in 1983.  I'd heard of Mary for a few years, but she worked in Sort on night shift and I didn't meet her until '97 when Mary, Capi and I were all at an Intel conference together in San Diego.  

Little did we know the life long friendship that would begin that weekend!

Mary will be starting her volunteer "job" at Hands on Portland Sept. 9th thru the end of the year 'working' part time at the non-profit while Intel is paying her...pretty cool, huh?

Happy retirement my friend! YOU ROCK!   We are blessed to have you, Mark and the kids in our lives!

Great Place To Run 2013...

Awesome time today at Intel's 4th annual Great Place To Run event!   3,400 registered participants.  Great weather, music food and memories were made today!
